Nakamura Kanjaku (中村翫雀)

Kanjaku NAKAMURA is a professional name of Kabuki (traditional drama performed by male actors). It is a professional name that recognized as Kamigata (Kyoto and Osaka area) line even at present. It was passed down from line of Utaemon NAKAMURA the fourth to Ganjiro NAKAMURA family, and passed down till present. Stage family name is Narikomaya. Because of the relation with Ganjiro, some people read 'Ganjaku', but originally it has not a sonant sound.

Haimyo (also known as Haimei) (the term originally refers to a pen name as a haiku poet, but it also refers to a kabuki actor's offstage name which can be used officially and privately) of Utaemon NAKAMURA (the fourth).
Kanjaku NAKAMURA the second

He was born in 1834, his original name was Kichizo ICHIKAWA, and he succeeded to the second after succession to Kichizo BANDO. He died in 1861 at the age of 28. Premature death. His haimyo was Kikuzen and Shisho. Stage family name is Narikomaya. He was commonly called 'Kikuzen Kanjaku' from his haimyo, Kikuzen.
Kanjaku NAKAMURA

He succeeded the professional name by being Shikan NAKAMURA's sworn younger brother. He was father of Ganjiro NAKAMURA (the first). See Kanjaku NAKAMURA (the third) for reference. His previous name was Kakuzo ARASHI.
